During searches in the Urda meadow, rescuers found skis, which are likely to belong to a tourist from Germany, but not the tourist himself.
According to the State Emergencies Service Office of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, on Jan. 24, at 19:45, the Rescue Service received a report that a citizen of Germany born in 1971 had gotten lost while skiing in the vicinity of the Dragobrat valley, Rakhiv district.
Rescuers searched the Dragobrat valley and adjacent territories.
Around 22:30, near the Urda valley, they found skies which probably belonged to the tourist. After the survey of the Urda valley, the lost tourist was not found.
Searches around the valley were fruitless too. Due to avalanche hazard, absence of daylight and very severe weather conditions, at 02:00 on 25.01, it was decided to the suspend search and rescue work until morning.
The search and rescue department of Yasinya consisting of 6 rescuers and 1 unit of equipment, the mountain search and rescue department of Rakhiv consisting of 2 rescuers and 1 unit of equipment, 12 volonteer rescuers, 1 trak and 2 snowmobiles were employed for search and rescue operations.
