The reason of the morning transport collapse on Koryatovich square in Uzhgorod is snow removal (PHOTO-REPORT)

Today, on January 18, in the morning, there was a real transport collapse in the center of the city, on Koryatovich square and adjacent streets.  

It happened during morning rush hour, around 8.10-9.00, when shoolchildren were going to schools in crowded buses and cars.

Actually, traffic at this time is always slow, and motorists are used to take this into account. However, today, the traffic jams were particularly long. Long waiting, dangerous situations, honking, shouting…

We saw the reason on the square itself – a police car blocked Fedynets street from Bakoniy lane to Zhupanatska street.

– What happened? – we asked the policeman.

– Road cleaning, – he answered.

We noticed that there were a few cars on Fedynets street.

A bit further, we saw vehicles gathering snow and loading it into a truck.

On the one hand, it’s very good – we already wrote about the huge snow-banks and the problems with snow removal.

But on the other hand… Doing it during the morning rush hour, with a complete blocking of an important one-way road is a questionable decision, to put it mildly.

Meanwhile, utilities still have plenty of work…

May be they should optimize the timing taking, into account the working hours of the vast majority of townspeople and the educational process in schools?
