On January 1, 2019, the value-added tax on the import of goods by international postal services at more than 100 euros for one recipient entered into force, the Ekonomichna Pravda reported.
The relevant law was signed by President Poroshenko on December 10.
From January 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019, a transition period with a limit of 150 euros will apply, and on July 1, 2019, a new one will enter into force – 100 euros per one person.
Before that, Ukrainians could receive unlimited amount of parcels up to 150 euros from abroad without paying taxes or fees.
The law stipulates that upon import of the goods worth more than 100 euros for one recipient, 20% VAT and 10% duty on the amount exceeding the limit will be imposed.
According to the new law, postal service operators and express carriers shall be designated as tax agents. They will be charging and paying VAT for such parcels.
