Not only in Transcarpathia: in the neighboring Hungary, the water level in the Danube has dropped to a record low

The water level in the Danube continues to go down from a recent record minimum, dropping to 43-44 cm in Budapest, a water resource official said on Wednesday. This was reported by the MyHungary.Net.

Gabriella Siklos, the spokeswoman for the Main Directorate for Water Management, told the M1 public TV channel that the record low level of the Danube was recorded at various spots along the river, including Paks. Because of this, traffic of barges and cruise ships was stopped. Many travel agencies were forced to cancel cruises on the Danube and send tourists to Budapest and Bratislava by buses. Specialists attribute the shallowing to very hot and dry summer. Only the heavy precipitation that is expected in November can improve the situation.
