On October 24, at 17.00, Yuriy Fatula will present his new book "Transcarpathians in the First World War" in the Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library.
It is a military history research about the participation of soldiers of different nationalities mobilized from the territory of modern Transcarpathia in the World War I. It presents information about the military units of the Austro-Hungarian Army, in which Transcarpathians served, describes the greatest battles and military operations in which they participated.
For the first time, there is a list of military cemeteries, where the sons of the Silver Land are buried. Based on the archives in Prague and Budapest, a list was compiled containing 1516 names of soldiers with information about the date, circumstances, place of death and burial place of every one of them. The alphabetic index of the fallen soldiers allows the descendants to find and honor their ancestors, who fought in the war.
The book will be interesting to historians, ethnographers, military officers and all who care about the history of their native land and their lineage.
