Victor Olefir, the head of Perechyn district in Transcarpathian region, was fired by a decree of the Cabinet of Ministers. This decision was made at the government meeting today, July 18, the Forensic Legal Paper informs.
At the Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated that Olefir would be punished. The Prime Minister is also outraged by the behavior of the ex-official.
After Olefir hit two women while driving his Jeep Cherokee with foreign license plates on July 13, he was detained and suspended from duties. The official was driving in a state of strong alcohol intoxication. On July, 16 Olefir was arrested for two months. Olefir faces 5 to 10 years in prison. The suspect pleaded guilty and asked forgiveness from the relatives of his victims.
