The debate of environmentalists and developers regarding the “urbanization” of the mountains in Transcarpathia continues: now it’s about Svydovets

We recently posted the opinion of the community Save Borzhava on the construction of wind turbines on the slopes of the Polonyna Borzhava. Now, we are presenting different points of view on the construction of the mega resort "Svydovets". These are the original texts, without edits or comments.

#Free_Svydovets Today the Svydovets Mountain Range is in the focus of attention. Until now, these mountains have remained a place of wildlife. Here, there is a high diversity of plant and animal species, including endangered ones. Humans have long displaced them from the rest of the Carpathians, having urbanized and built up entire mountain ranges. The Svydovets gives shelter to other inhabitants of the Carpathians, to which humans leave no chance of survival.             Now all these unique places are under threat because of the plans for the construction of the mega resort "Svydovets". This tourist giant for 22-28 thousand seats will destroy all this wild beauty, turning it into highways, ski lifts and trails, numerous hotels, restaurants, spa salons, gyms and other urbanization If you care about the fate of the wild Svydovets and you do not want to see another tourist site instead of this perfect creation, support the #Free_Svydovets initiative and sign the petition to protect this unique wildlife https://freesvydovets.org/

Opinion of the Public community for the Svydovets resort

– After the "open" event organized by pseudo activists and those who claim to be objective environmentalists, Yaroslavna Ivanova, a representative of the Rakhiv and Tyachiv district state administrations, gave an interview to journalists.
Unfortunately, there was no place for the professional discussion at the event itself. And in her speech, Yaroslavna Ivanova presents the facts that largely refute the arguments of the opponents to the construction of the "Svydovets" resort.
Unwillingness to have a dialogue, secrecy of the researches, ignoring alternative opinion are signs of bias that is clearly present in the activities of these organizations, which oppose the construction of the "Svydovets" resort contrary to the will of the local population, government bodies, progressive environmental scientists and entrepreneurs of Transcarpathia.

Once again: two sides and two points of view. And this is not the end. We think the controversy will continue until a healthy combination of common sense and economic feasibility wins. If it wins…
