Uzhgorod residents are invited to listen to folk, jazz, and rock-n-roll played on the bandura (Announcements)

The VI International Festival "Music Without Borders" has begun in the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic.

It was opened with the concert of the academic song and dance ensemble "Podillya" of the Vinnytsia Regional Philharmonic. It was a vibrant, spectacular program inspired by the Cossack spirit and the juicy Ukrainian melos. The guests presented an exciting hour and a half long program.

And on April 15, bandurist and composer, laureate of many international academic and jazz competitions Heorhiy Matviyiv will perform on this stage. The soloist of the Academic Ensemble of Ukrainian Music, Song and Dance "Chayka" of the Odesa Regional Philharmonic, teacher of the Odesa National Musical Academy, he is the inventor of numerous new modern techniques. In the hands of this performer, bandura sounds like a real orchestra. Heorhiy Matviyiv has released four albums and is actively playing concerts in Ukraine, France, Austria, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic and other European countries. In 2012, the performer became the first and the only Ukrainian musician to take part in the European Jazz Orchestra.

In Uzhgorod, Heorhiy Matviyiv will present an audio-visual concert "Impressionism, Folk, Jazz", which will feature his original works and improvisations based on Ukrainian folk songs and songs of "The Beatles" in various styles. The program will also feature a student of the Drohobych Music College Yaroslava Kahanyak who will perform lyrical songs of Ukrainian composers accompanied by bandura. The beginning is at 17.00.
