The measles epidemic in Transcarpathian region remains difficult

This was informed by the Head of the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance and Prevention of Infectious Diseases Victoria Tymchyk.

Since the beginning of 2018, 460 cases of measles have been registered in the region, including 362 among children (79%). Last week, the number of patients decreased by 5% compared to the previous week, mainly due to the adult population, but there was an increase in the number of patients among the children 10-17 years old. In total, 129 cases of measles were registered during the week, including 103 children. The hospitalization rate is 85%.

The largest number of patients with measles is registered in Uzhgorod, Tyachiv, Irshava, Rakhiv, Svalyava districts and in the city of Uzhgorod.

Medical and preventive measures and monitoring of the current epidemic situation continue.

Recall that on Friday, representatives of the Hungarian government handed over to the Transcarpathian regional organization of the "Red Cross" a humanitarian aid of eight thousand doses of measles, mumps and rubella vaccines.
