Damaged bridge in Svalyava will be repaired in the spring (PHOTOS)

The reconstruction of the bridge over the Svalyavka River, which was damaged by the flood in November last year, has started in Svalyava, – the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal reported.

Then, the flood wave damaged one of the supports resulting in a concrete covering sinking by one and a half meters. Vehicular traffic across the bridge, which leads to Bystry village, is blocked, but there are other ways to the village. The beginning of the reconstruction work was inspected by Hennadiy Moskal, Mykhailo Rivis, as well as city and district leadership and deputies from different levels from Svalyava district.

– We had to wait for the start of the reconstruction for as long as a year, as the production of design estimates and tender procedures took a lot of time, – the head of the Regional State Administration said. – During this time, the bridge has become the subject for speculation of various kinds of activists. However, none of them did a thing to restore the bridge, the local and regional authorities did all the work. Currently, the contractor has already been determined, the first tranche of funds has been received, construction materials have been purchased. The source of funding is the regional budget. We plan to put the repaired bridge into operation in the spring of the next year.
