Paused. The construction of the rehabilitation center for the disabled and ATO participants in Uzhgorod is frozen

The regional center of Transcarpathia had a chance to get the first in the country facility for the rehabilitation of disabled people, primarily ATO participants. The authorities promised, approved the estimates, but…

The idea to build a modern sports and rehabilitation center for disabled with lesions of the musculoskeletal system and participants of ATO, which currently has no analogues in Ukraine, sprang up in Uzhgorod several years ago.

Activists of the Transcarpathian regional organization of the Ukrainian Federation of Sports for Disabled with Lesions of the Musculoskeletal System had to overcome many bureaucratic obstacles in order to get thing going. And, October 26, 2016, the "time capsule" was solemnly laid under the first stone at the foundation of the center. The leaders of the city and the region then promised that there would be no halts in the construction.

In 2016, UAH 3.5 million was allocated for the construction of the complex: two million – from the city budget, one – from the state budget, and 500 thousand – from the regional budget. It was enough for the preparatory work, but at the end of December, the contractor – private company "Pantheon" – halted construction work due to lack of funds.

Oleksandr Lyzanets said: "It is a shame that despite the promises of the government, the construction is halted. The contractor has acquired sandwich panels, but they can not install them. It is the end of April, and there is no progress." O. Lyzanets, activists and volunteers appealed to local authorities and the Prime Minister requesting to provide funds from the state budget, etc. But they have received just run-around replies… So the construction of the sports and rehabilitation center is now under threat.
