When will Uzhgorod airport resume operations?

European Agency for Aviation Safety (EASA) emphasizes that normal operation of the International Airport "Uzhgorod" may be resumed only subject to the conformance of the "UkSATSE" equipment to the European standards. This is stated in the letter of the head of the EASA Patrick Ky to the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal.

– The negotiations between the EASA and the "UkSATSE" on this issue have been going on since 2012 – H. Moskal said. – During this time, they could have done a lot of work and brought the equipment in line with European standards, but for some reason nothing has been done. We only get promises of help, we invest money in the modernization of the regional airport, and now it turns out that in 5 years the "UkSATSE" has done nothing.
We have sent to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine one more appeal with an urgent request to respond to the initiative of EASA. Sooner or later, the "UkSATSE" will have to be certified for compliance with European norms, so why not start with the westernmost region?
