A powerful chemical production is being deployed in Slovakia, near the border with Ukraine. In particular, an industrial park is being built near Humenne (Strážske). And the largest in Europe bioethanol plant is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
According to the Mukachevo.net citing the portal EurActiv.sk, it will be the first project in the field of bio-economy, introduced in Slovakia by the European Union together with the Consortium of Manufacturers of Biomaterials (BBI). The total amount of grant is € 21 million.
At the first stage, it is planned to produce 55 thousand tons of ethanol a year, on the second phase the production capacity is to be expanded to 110 thousand tons. More than 600 people will be employed in the production.
Also, Srážske Energochemica Group SE plans to build a chemical plant fot modern membrane electrolysis. Production of chlorine and sodium hydroxide will require a significant amount of salt, so they are also planning to mine nearby in Zbudz.
