The Slovaks are clearing the ice jam on the Uzh using heavy machinery

Slovak water workers decided to unblock the ice drifting on the Uzh river in their country using heavy machinery.

– It is impossible to blast the ice jam that begins near the village of Pinkovce because of the proximity to the hydrological post and residential buildings – Hennadiy Moskal said. – Therefore, they are clearing the river channel from large ice blocks using excavators. The work has already begun, the water level in the Uzh on Ukrainian territory is within the normal range, there is no threat of flooding.

Recall that on Sunday (5.02) in the evening, due to a huge 5-kilometer-long ice jam, which formed in the Uzh river in Slovakia, there was a threat of flooding in Uzhgorod and the nearby village of Storozhnytsia.
