The Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod visited Bukovina

In early December, the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Mr. Jozsef Buhaylo visited Chernivtsi, the acc.cv.ua informed. The diplomat’s trip to Bukovina was, above all, a manifestation of friendship with Hungarian people. "We share the desire of the Ukrainians to build a developed independent country, because the Hungarian people for years was fighting against the totalitarian regime," – the consul said speaking in the session hall of the Chernivtsi Regional Council at the beginning of the regular session.

The consul and deputies of the Regional Council honored the memory of the fallen heroes in the Donbass with a minute of silence. Children in national Hungarian costumes laid baskets of flowers to Taras Shevchenko monument in the central square from the diplomatic mission of Hungary.

In October this year, Hungary celebrated the 60th anniversary of the uprising in Budapest. It was crushed down by the Soviet tanks and Hungarian law enforcement. Many people died, protesters, who just wanted to exercise their right to freedom and choice, were shot. The mobile exhibition "For freedom and independence" in memory of the Heroes of the Revolution and the liberation struggle in Hungary 1956 opened in the lobby of the Chernivtsi Regional Council.
