Uzhgorod residents appealed to the city council about the beautiful big spruce trees that had been cut down near the theater in the morning.
Here is what the City Council stated in response.
"Today at dawn, it was reported that in Uzhgorod, near the Regional Drama Theater, 4 blue spruce trees with trunk diameter of 40-50 cm had been cut down.
The patrol police officers, who had been called at the scene, documented the fact, the head of the municipal police of Uzhgorod city council Serhiy Prosyanyk also arrived.
The site, where the trees were cut, is privately owned. The owner presented a state certificate for the land, the land was bought at auction in 2009, the purpose is the construction of commercial buildings not exceeding 4 floors.
Uzhgorod city council has not granted permits to cut down the trees. Therefore, we appealed to the Regional Environmental Inspectorate and are preparing an appeal to the Office of the State Architectural and Construction Control in Transcarpathian region.
The situation, as it is a very important matter, was also discussed at the end of today’s meeting of the executive committee of Uzhgorod city council"
