The most western region of Ukraine – Transcarpathia – was first to start celebrating 25th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine. At 6 am, in the Uzhgorod Castle, best singing groups of the region, representatives of the clergy, government, law enforcement and ordinary Transcarpathians greeted the sunrise with the "Prayer for Ukraine." At 10.00, official events took place on Narodna Square in front of the Regional State Administration. The program includes live boradcast of the speech of the President of Ukraine, broadcast of the parade from the capital, national flashmob "Singing the anthem of Ukraine together." The highlight of this year’s celebration in Transcarpathia was cereminail fanfares from the balcony of the RSA performed by trumpeters of the Regional Philharmonic.
– We invite Uzhgorod residents and visitors of Transcarpathia to Narodna Square to listen to the ceremonial fanfare – Hennadiy Moskal says. – By the way, from now on, there is a free Wi-Fi access on Narodna Square. It is also our gift to the Independence Day of Ukraine.
Another gift for Transcarpathians and guests of the region will be today’s opening of the children’s narrow-gauge railway, whose restoration was made possible by Hennadiy Moskal and the head of the "Lvivzaliznytsia" Ivan Hrunyk. At 12.00, the first locomotive will be driven by H. Moskal (whose first profession is assistant driver) and I. Hrunyk. We invite everyone to this ceremony!
