Fatal accident in Uzhgorod. A child was killed

Today, about 13:40, near the school №2 on Pidhirna Street a fatal accident happened.

A few meters from a pedestrian crossing, the driver of a Citroen Jumper hit a 4-year-old boy who was crossing the road with his mother. The child was hit by the rear wheel of the minibus.

An ambulance was immediately called at the scene. Doctors tried to save the boy, but the child died from injuries.

According to the driver, he was not exceeding speed limit and did not see the child behind the vehicle. Patrol policemen working at the scene reported that the driver did not seem to be intoxicated. We also learned that the driver stopped at the pedestrian crossing to let pedestrians cross the road, then started moving and felt a shock from hitting something.

The details and circumstances of the accident are being established by investigators.
