Yesterday, at the checkpoint "Vylok", border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment prevented another attempt of tobacco smuggling. A 39-year-old Hungarian tried to smuggle cigarettes from Ukraine by hiding them in two gas cylinders. During the customs control, the man could not hide his anxiety, which aroused suspicions of customs officers about the possible transportation of objects and materials hidden from border control. Hence, the foreigner’s vehicle was taken out of the general queue for in-depth inspection.
During the inspection of the said vehicle, an inspector of the Border Guard Service found in the cabin two cylinders, as it turned out later, filled with tobacco products.
The access to the cigarettes was made possible after border guards drained the gas and removed the bottoms of the cylinders.
The detection of the cigarettes was documented in the report. The cigarettes in the amount of 260 packs were seized and estimated at 2,340 UAH. The cylinders, in which the Hungarian attempted to hide contraband tobacco, were also seized and estimated at 760 UAH.
