An inspector of the Chop border guard detachment was detained for receiving 10 thousand dollars bribe

On March 23, 2016, the investigation department of the military prosecution in Western Ukraine, with the support of the Internal Security Department of the Security Service of Ukraine, documented the fact of extortion and receiving of undue benefit by an inspector of the Border Guard Service Department "Uzhgorod" of the Chop Border Guard Detachment.

The undue benefit in amount of 10,200 UAH from a citizen of Ukraine was provided for the removal of obstacles in transportation of goods across the state border of Ukraine.

Part of the bribe – 5 thousand dollars – was found and seized during the inspection of the scene and search of the house. Primary investigative activities are being conducted.

The suspect was arrested under Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.

The issue of notifying the border guard of being suspected of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining undue advantage, combined with extortion) and a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention is being decided.
