In Transcarpathia, there is no vaccine for children and medicine to treat seriously ill people

Transcarpathian deputies appealed to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov about the difficult situation with immunobiological drugs, the Press Service of the Transcarpathian Regional Council reported.
In the region, as in Ukraine in general, there is a critical situation with the provision of medical and immunobiological drugs purchased at the expense of the state budget of Ukraine for provision of medical care and conduct of required preventive vaccination of residents of Transcarpathian region. For several years now, there has been deterioration of the situation with provision of immunobiological preparations in Transcarpathian region. While in 2010-2011, 80-90% of the demand was covered, in 2014, the figure dropped to 12.7%.
Due to insufficient and irregular supply of immunological drugs in the region, health facilities are unable to ensure continuous vaccination of newborns and infants and perform immunization of infants subject to vaccination against tuberculosis, diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus.
As of today, there is an extremely critical situation with the timely supply of vaccines, particularly for continuous vaccination of newborns and children on the first year of life. For example, in 2014, only 5,000 doses of BCG vaccine of Polish production was supplied, this vaccine is now unavailable, babies are discharged from maternity units not vaccinated against tuberculosis.

The situation with the provision of patients of other categories is also critical. In particular, the situation with the supply of medicines for patients with tuberculosis, hemophilia, cancer, HIV infection and AIDS is quite alarming. This aggravates already quite a significant social tension.
That is why members of the Regional Council ask to contribute to prompt resolution of of issues of the centralized supply of vital drugs and vaccines.
