Uzhhorod will hold the Ukrainian championship of rythmic gymnastics

It will be the fourth time that Uzhhorod holds the Ukrainian championship of rythmic gymnastics. Graces from all over the country will come to the regional centre of Transcarpathia. They will compete from February 18 to 22 in the hall of the "Yunist" sport complex.

Valentyna Plavayko, the head of the Federation of Gymnastics of Transcarpathia told Uzhgorod.in about the details of the tournament.

"We are pleased to note that it is the fourth time since 2012 that Uzhhorod has not given away this National tournament. It is an honour for us to welcome the elite of the Ukrainian rythmic gymnastics, the leaders of the world rythmic gymnastics. The Ukrainian Cup is always the most responsible tournament. We are expecting around 200 sportswomen from all over Ukraine to take part in the candidates for masters of sport challenge. These masters of sport will compete individually and in groups. The championship will be spectacular. It will contain many thrilling and graceful competitions," – says Ms Plavayko.

According to the organizers, the best 20 juniors (candidates for masters of sport) by the results of the Group Championship of Ukraine 2015 (Sumy) and the best 10 groups (masters of sport) by the results of the Group Championship of Ukraine 2015 (Sumy) will compete. There will be individual (6 types) and group (2 types) performances. The rest of the teams regisrer upon invitations. The representatives of the Ukrainian national team will also participate in the tournament. They will perform 4 individual programs.

What concerns the preparing of the Transcarpathian team, Ms Plavayko said: "Great and scrupulous work is done, the team is preparing. It has always been a difficult task to form the team of masters of sport. They are adult girls. They study in different cities usually. Nevertheless, we have managed to form the team. We exercise 3-4 hours each day in the morning. In addition, we have trainings in the afternoon. The girls do group exercises and prepare the individual proramme."

The championship in Uzhhorod attracts much attention. Thus, Albina and Iryna Deryuhiny will come. By tradition, Albina Deryuhina, the president of the Federation of Gymnastics of Ukraine will be the head of the jury. In addition, sportswomen who have previously received the license to take part in the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro will also compete in the tournament. Hanna Rizatdinova is among them.
