This morning, water levels in all the rivers of Transcarpathia, which dramatically increased last Saturday due to intense rains, began to decrease. About 2 o’clock in the night, the flood wave on the Tisa river reached the extreme point within Transcarpathia – near Chop.
The water rose to a peak of 7 meters and 20 centimeters and near the village of Salovka broke out onto the floodplain. There were no floodings or other serious consequences. In the morning, on the Tisa river in the vicinity of Chop the water level began to drop, at this time (10.30), it has dropped by 20 centimeters. Thus, the last flood wave has passed Transcarpathia and went to the territory of Hungary.
Rescue units during the previous day and night continued the works for liquidation of the aftermath of the flood. As of Wednesday, water has been pumped out of all residential homes that were flooded in mountainous areas on Saturday and Sunday. Specially formed commissions are calculating the losses caused by the flood.
