Andriy Baloha, who confidently won the election of Mukachevo mayor, held a press conference on Tuesday, October 27.
Having 54% of the votes and bringing a significant number of deputies to the city council, he told about his first steps on the post.
Thus, one of the main positions which he considers the most important is openness to the community.
"The decisions on the life of the city must be taken not only by the City Council, but by the city residents themselves. Therefore, in addition to other tools – public debate, transparency of the City Council, webcams in the hall and information on the website – I propose to launch "city plebiscite."
It will be a kind of a "city referendum", where residents of Mukachevo will be able to suggest the city authorities better solutions of the issues of the city life.
In general, the young mayor (the youngest in the history of the city and, possibly, Transcarpathia) plans to pay attention firstly to the development of infrastructure – building roads, the problems of water supply, street lighting, and so on.
We expect public statements and declarations of intent from other representatives of the new city government. Uzhgorod resdients will have to wait for that the longest – the regional center will have the second round of the mayoral elections.
