On the Day of Neighbourliness between Ukraine and Romania, Rakhiv rescuers held a campaign “Prevent. Save. Help”

In the village of Bila Tserkva in Rakhiv district, there was a big holiday – the Day of Neighbourliness between Ukraine and Romania. On this occasion, Rakhiv rescuers organized in the village the campaign "Prevent. Save. Help" to teach people rules of fire safety and recreation in the mountains. The event was attended by representatives of the district department of the State Emergencies Service, 3rd State Fire and Rescue Unit and mountain search and rescue department of the city of Rakhiv.

The participants and guests of the holiday could choose from the two exhibitions – of fire-fighting equipment and of maountain rescue equipment. In total, the impromptu presentations were attended by about 600 people – both Ukrainians and citizens of neighboring Romania.

Firefighters, exhibited near a fire truck various hydraulic tools and other means using which rescuers liquidate the consequences of emergencies. Also, firefighters were telling people the basic rules of fire safety at home.

The exhibition of mountain rescuers of Rakhiv was equally interesting. The participants of the Day of Neighbourliness were able to see ice axes, snowshoes, probes, rope, carabiners and other equipment, used by rescuers to search for people in the snow-covered mountains. Remembering that winter tourist season will start soon in the Carpathian Mountains, representatives of the State Emergencies Service reminded citizens rules of safe mountain recreation. Among other things, they stressed that before going to the mountains tourists should register at the nearest rescue service unit, take warm clothes and climbing equipment, climb slopes accompanied by experienced tourists and stop trips in adverse weather conditions. These recommendations are intended to reduce the number of tragic incidents in the mountains of Transcarpathia.
