National Academic Dance Ensemble of Ukraine named after Pavlo Virsky will visit Uzhgorod

On October 14, the Day of Defender, the National Academic Dance Ensemble of Ukraine named after Pavlo Virsky will visit Uzhgorod within the tour timed to the 110th anniversary of its founder.

The program consists of the best dances by the choreographer Pavlo Virsky that are preserved and reproduced by dancers and new productions that the audience will see for the first time.

In the team of the Virsky ensemble consists of 100 best artists who are passionate, full of life, cheerful, with incredible fiery energy. Virtuosity, skill and original interpretation of folk styles of differents countries made the whole applaud the Virsky ensemble.

Pavlo Virsky was born on 12 (25) of February, 1905 in Odessa. The ensemble dates back to June 1937. In 1940, the famous choreographers Pavlo Virsky and Mykola Bolotov assembled a large team of folk dance choreographers and created a song and dance ensemble of Ukraine.

 It lasted 11 years. In 1951, after the Decade of Ukrainian Literature and Art in Moscow, the team was again reorganized into the State Dance Ensemble of Ukraine.From 1955 to 1977, the ensemble was headed by Pavlo Virsky.
