This morning, at the railway crossing "Chop" border guards of the Chop detachment found a cache with a significant amount of small arms ammunition.
During the inspection of passenger cars of the train "Chop (Ukraine) – Cierna nad Tisou (Slovakia)" using special equipment, border guards found hidden ammunition in the trailer car "Kyiv – Bratislava". The offenders had put cartridges of 7.62 mm caliber in amount of 267 pieces into used juice packages and tried to hide them behind a protective casing of a heating radiator in the restroom.
The police opened criminal proceedings over smuggling and illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. Currently, the police are looking for the people involved in the transportation of ammunition, the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine informs.
