116 anniversary of strongman Croton will be honored with the “Feast of Strength” (Announcement)

On August 2, at 15.00, the sports tournament "Feast of Strength" will be held in the center of Irshava. The event is timed to the 116th anniversary of the famous athlete Croton, who in 1928 was recognized the strongest man of the 20th century.

The event aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, so the organizers have planned interesting sports events – competitions in pull-ups on a gym bar, push-ups on the bars, barbell bench press. There will be performances by acrobatic groups and singers, break-dance. The registration fee for participation in competitions is 20 UAH, and for participants under 18 years old – free of charge. The winners will receive financial awards.

Such event will be held in Irshava for the first time. At one time, sports festival in honor of the world-famous strongman used to be organized in the village of Bilky. This is where he was born and lived.   

Ivan Strong toured 64 countries in the world. In the US, he performed a publicity stunt: lied on the ground, and a car ran over his throat. The "Gertzfert-circus", where Firtsak worked, once toured in London. Then, the Queen of Britain invited guests to show the program in the "Tower" circus. There, Ivan was pulling a truck full of people.

After the performance, there was the famous impromptu boxing match with John Jackson, which ended with a serious injury for the latter. And in Spain, Firtsak participated in bullfighting, during which he killed the bull by tearing off his horns.

Now in the center of Bilky, there is a monument to the strongman, and recently a biopic "Ivan Strong" was made based upon the story of Ukrainian writer Oleksandr Havrosh "Incredible Adventures of Ivan Strong, the Strongest Man in the World."
