The sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors is punishable by fine and revocation of licenses

The Law of Ukraine "On state regulation of production and turnover of ethyl, cognac and fruit alcohol, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products" provides for a ban on the sale of beer (except alcohol-free), alcohol, soft drinks, table wine and tobacco products to persons under the age of 18 years.

The seller of beer (except alcohol-free), alcohol, soft drinks, table wine, or tobacco products must request a buyer, who buys beer (except alcohol-free), alcohol, soft drinks,

table wine or tobacco, to present a passport or other document confirming the age of the buyer if the seller has doubts that the buyer is 18 years old or older.

In case the buyer refuses to present such a document, the sale of beer (except alcohol-free) alcohol, soft drinks, table wine, or tobacco products to such person is prohibited.

Illegal actions entail administrative liability – sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors is punishable by a fine in amount of 6,800 UAH.

In addition, the employee, who sold banned goods to a minor, shall be brought to administrative responsibility and pay the fine of 500 to 1,700 UAH.

Also, the entrepreneur’s license to sell alcohol and tobacco products shall be revoked.

Tax service urges entrepreneurs to comply with the law, not to sell alcohol to minors, thus keeping health and longevity of future taxpayers.
