A Ukrainian’s attempt to import luxury alcoholic beverages, coffee and olive oil was a failure

At the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs office, during the customs control of a "Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 313 CDI" and personal belongings of a citizen of Ukraine, customs officers found foreign-made alcoholic beverages and food hidden from customs control.

The Ukrainian was returning from Italy, where he had been on private matters.

The citizen chose "red corridor" customs clearance, filled customs declaration, where he indicated his passport data, availability of personal effects and detsils of the vehicle.

During the oral questioning, the citizen said that he had no goods subject to written declaration or prohibition or restriction for transportation across the customs border of Ukraine.

But, when customs officers found in specially made cache 28 5-liter containers of olive oil, 42 bottles of "Martini Asti", the other red, white and sparkling Italian wines, Irish and Scottish whiskey, cognac "Hennessy" and "COURVOISIER", brandy "Calvados", roast ground coffee "Gold Medal", etc., the Ukrainian, said that he had bought the goods in Italy and purposely hidden them from customs control.

Thus, the citizen of Ukraine committed acts aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control, ie using specially manufactured caches. These actions have signs of customs rules violation under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the goods, that are direct objects of the violation of customs regulations and the vehicle with specially manufactured cache used to conceal goods, were seized.
