The amendements to the Tax Code passed by the Parliament in 2014 on equating beer to alcoholic beverages took effect on July 1.
According to the adopted amendments, beer advertising on television and radio during the day, as well as outdoor advertising shall be prohibited, the "Interfax-Ukraine" informed.
As reported, the certification and licensing of beer production, product conformity certificate, license for import and export of beer shall be introduced.
Additionally, new requirements for the labeling of products shall be provided, and the use of branded equipment, furniture, glasses, umbrellas; sponsorship of sports teams shall be prohibited.
Also producers of beer with the strength of more than 8.5% will be required to use excise stamps like those for wines and spirits.
