Czech block pavement on the sidewalks in the Galagov neighbourhood in the historic part of Uzhgorod is being restored by being replaced with concrete and larger blocks. Thus, they carry out maintenance of city roads on Nezalezhnist embankment and other city streets. Paving blocks, which are being put in the gaps on the sidewalk of Nezalezhnist embankment, were dismantled from Shvabska street few years ago. The pavement on the embankment was restored at numerous requests of the residents of this neigbourhood, but not how it should be done. Large paving blockes should have been only in places where their size is not noticeable, alternating with small, Czech ones. Architect of the NGO "PRO URBE" Petro Szarvas says that it is still possible to restore the historic roadways preserving their authentic appearance. Because this kind of stone is mined in Uzhgorod quarry.
