The two cubs, that they tried to smuggle across the border, have been transferred to the National Park in Synevyr in the Carpathians, the adviser to the Minister of Environment of Ukraine Kostyantin Yarmolenko reported on Facebook.
"Life is an exciting thing! So, 10 days ago valiant Boryspil customs officers prevented an attempt of transportation of two cubs to Dubai! Customs officers started looking for a home for these two beauties and after 2 weeks of searching contacted the Synevyr National Park in the Carpathians. I was chosen as a coordinator of the transaction in the Ministry of Environment" – the official said.
The animals were delivered unharmed to the Synevyr, a specialized rehabilitation center for bears, where they will live in half-wild on the area of 12.5 hectares, Yarmolenko said.
Previously, the "Obozrevatel" reported that at the airport "Boryspil", smugglers tried to transport two cubs of brown bears in the baggage to the UAE.
