The Uzhgorod was not revived…

The issue of resuming the publication of the municipal newspaper "Uzhgorod" was considered by deputies of Uzhgorod city council at the regular meeting today, April 9. 

There were not enough votes for the decision "On the program of coverage of the activities of Uzhgorod City Council, problems of city life in the newspaper "Uzhgorod" in 2015-2017". So the decision was not passed. This was reported by the regional correspondent of the IMI. 

Under the document, it was supposed to allocate 235,000 UAH to the newspaper this year "to create conditions for comprehensive coverage of the activities of the City Council, members and factions of the City Council, the prospects of the city development, its problems and achievements of Uzhgorod residents in social and economic, culture, science, and sport fields". 249,000 UAH was provided for 2016, 260,000 UAH – for 2017. 

Later, the City Council Secretary Bogdan Andriyiv suggested to reconsider this issue. However, the meeting suddenly discontinued, because some deputies for unknown reasons left the meeting, thus there was no more quorum. 

 So, obviously, the issue of funding the newspaper "Uzhgorod" will be considered the next time. Under another draft decision, deputies were to approve the staff of the paper in the amount of seven employees: the chief editor; the chief accountant; two editors; a coder; a corrector; an advertising manager. 

As you know, in February, ​​a proposition to eliminate the newspaper "Uzhgorod" was submitted for consideration of the deputies, but then the Mayor Victor Pogorelov without explanation withdrew the issue from the agenda. The publication of the newspaper was discontinued earlier this year.
