Expensive roads – homework for Transcarpathian MPs

Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Transcarpathia regions may receive 175 million each for the construction of roads in the Carpathians, the Interfax-Ukraine writes.

"We, deputies of the Carpathian region, managed to have 700 million hryvnias allocated for the construction of roads. Unfortunately, at the last meeting in the government, the Prime Minister took the Solomonic decision – to divide 700 million among four regions, ie 175 million for each. This means to do nothing," – the MP Anatoliy Matvienko (faction "Petro Poroshenko Block") said at the meeting of the Coordination Council of the "Eurocarpathian Initiative" project in Ivano-Frankivsk on Friday.

Therefore, he said, on Monday-Tuesday, the MPs will go "in a large delegation to the Prime Minister to ask him to change that philosophy."

"Our logic is to build the road Lviv – Rohatyn – Ivano-Frankivsk – Chernivtsi, to unite Carpathian regions – Kosiv – Verkhovyna – Vorokhta and to make exit through the transition to Vyzhnytsia – the area in Chernivtsi region. And for this alsone, we need 700 million hryvnia. This road means a quick communication with Lviv and access to Europe" – A.Matviyenko said.

He believes that the warranty for the road must be 7-10 years.

A.Matviyenko also said that at the same government meeting, it was authorized to use 62 million euros of unused funds of the EBRD for the repair of the Ivano-Frankivsk – Rakhiv (Transcarpathian region.).

"Maybe in September and October, at best, we will start doing something, because until then we need to prepare the project for the repair of the road Ivano-Frankivsk – Rakhiv" – A.Matviyenko said.

As you know, on March 2, the Parliament adopted amendments to the state budget for 2015, according to which 700 million hryvnia was allocated for repair of roads in the Carpathian region.
