Contracts for transportation of welfare beneficiaries will be concluded with motor transport undertakings

The director of the Social Welfare Department of the RSA Victor Matsola – on the right of certain categories of citizens to transportation at reduced prices.

"In Transcarpathian region, almost 270 thousand people have the right to price reductions. Currently, for the transportation of welfare beneficiaries, motor transport enterprises receive compensation from the state. However, the government plans to replace this system with the "monetization" of benefits. According to the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, the final decision is not yet taken, and the Government is working to develop a more effective model of compensation for travel" – Victor Matsola informed.    

In addition, in June 2015, the benefits for certain categories of citizens will be canceled. Thus, war invalids, combatants; Chernobyl disaster aftermath liquidators of the I and II categories; veterans of military service; children from large families; disabled of the I group; disabled children and persons accompanying them will be enjoying this benefit.   

         The carrier that carries out transportation on bus routes of common use may not refuse in preferential transportation, except as provided by law.

"Today, transportation of welfare beneficiaries on intercity and commuter routes is carried out at the expense of carriers. Due to the worsening situation in the market of road transport services, which is caused by a rapid rise in prices for fuel, lubricants and spare parts, this issue needs urgent solution" – Victor Matsola said.  

"In this regard, the government recommended district and city authorities to conclude contracts with carriers on intercity and commuter routes for reimbursement of expenses for transportation of welfare beneficiaries", – the director of the Social Welfare Department of the RSA Victor Matsola concluded.
