Yaroslav Lazur on the creation of the single Law Faculty in UzhNU

Doctor of Law, the Acting Dean of the reorganized Faculty of Law of UzhNU Yaroslav Lazur commented on the reorganization that took place at the Uzhgorod National University in the form of merger of the two faculties that until now have existed at the university simultaneously: the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of European Law and Jurisprudence.

"This issue had been raised before, had been long debated by teachers and at the level of the student government. The learning processes had similar curricula, in the same field of law, although at the Faculty of European Law, there was also the training of international lawyers as a separate specialty. Now, the single faculty will have about one thousand full-time students, 600 correspondence students, and will ensure educational process for training of lawyers receiveing the second degree at the FPE.

The greatest pride is the staff, consisting of about one hundred CScs, more than ten professors. The integration of the two faculties, according to the plan of the Rector, is aimed at continuation of the traditions of legal education and ensuring the potential for new achievements in science and in education."

Yaroslav Lazur also noted that one of the tasks set by the management of the faculty is the introduction of topical specializations – those that would enable the graduate to meet the demands of the employer.

"For example, special attention will be paid to specializations that are associated with foreign economic activities. Thus, we are striving to fulfill strategic objectives for the integration of the legal education into the European space," – Mr. Lazur said.
