In Uzhgorod, a thief taxi driver was caught

Uzhgorod police caught a taxi driver who had stolen a bank card of his passenger. 
 
Recently, a 52-year-old local resident appealed to Uzhgorod city police. The man reported that a taxi driver had asked for his bank card, withdrawn the money, but had not returned the card.
 
Thanks to the actions of officers of Uzhgorod city police CID, this theft was solved in hot pursuit. The thief was a 42-year-old resident of Uzhgorod.
 
That evening, the victim went outside, stopped the first available taxi and drove home. Along the way, he decided to withdraw money from his credit card. Near the ATM on Gagarin street, the man asked the taxi driver to help him withdraw money from the account since he was not at all techno-savvy. The taxi driver withdrew the money from the account, gave it to the passenger, but did not return the card… Then, he drove the passenger home and rushed to the nearest ATM, where he withdrew from the card the money in amount of 2,700 UAH.
 
The Investigation Department of Uzhgorod city police opened the criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft), which is punishable by a fine of fifty to one hundred times the tax-free minimum income, community service for a term of eighty to two hundred forty hours, correctional labor for up to two years, arrest for up to six months, or imprisonment for up to three years. The investigation is ongoing.
