Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region in cooperation with prosecutors of Transcarpathian region and Internal Security of the State Border Service of Ukraine exposed the head of one of the border service divisions of the Chop border guard detachment, who, using his official position, demanded from a local resident 1,200 dollars of illegal benefit.
In return of this amount, the berder guard promised to help the local resident freely transport goods across the state border of Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine officer detained the bribe-taker "red-handed" when he was receiving the illegal benefit.
On January 25, Transcarpathian regional prosecutor’s office notified the detainee on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 368 (receiving of an undue advantage by an official, combined with extortion of undue advantage) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pretrial investigation continues.
