Volodymyr Chubirko “What happened at the Uzhgorod City Council was a political carve-up”

The Regional Council Chairman Volodymyr Chubirko, after the session of the Regional Council, commented on yesterday’s events at the Uzhgorod city council and gave his opinion about the city deputies.

"Shame on all deputies who yesterday elected a Party of Regions member as the mayor of the city. They spat in the face of those who stood on the Maidan, disgraced the memory of the Heroes of the Heaven’s Hundred. To let a Party of Regions member manage the city, despite the fact that Yanukovych fled the country, is a pointless act.  The current city council has transformed into a corporation. Land and property carve-up in the council has turned into a political carve-up.

I urge all deputies – have dignity, resign, stop the processes taking place in the council. As an Uzhgorod resident I am ready to come to the rally with the community and to protest against these pointless processes. In turn, I promise, as a native of Uzhgorod, as the Chairman of the Regional Council to do everything to support ordinary Uzhgorod residents, culture, medicine and education in the city," – Volodymyr Chubirko said.
