Slovak gas transmission system operator Eustream reported the successful completion of the Open
Season procedure for receiving applications for gas supplies to Ukraine from Slovakia.
This is stated in the notice of the "Naftogaz."
The Open Season procedure was conducted in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding
signed on April 28, 2014 by operators of gas transportation systems of Ukraine ("Ukrtransgas" JSC)
and Slovakia ("Eustream AS").
About two dozen European suppliers have expressed interest in supplying gas to Ukraine from the
territory of Slovakia. Among them, there are largest gas traders of the EU.
"Convincing results of the Open Season confirm that gas supply to Ukraine from the EU is a
commercially attractive and legally irreproachable business. A powerful Ukrainian market is very
interesting for Europeans. There is no doubt that the Slovak gas transmission capacity in the direction
of Ukraine will be in demand not only through Voyany-Uzhgorod, but also through one of the four
underused gas mains in Velke Kapushany" – the Chairman of the Board of the "Naftogaz of Ukraine"
Andriy Kobolyev said.
Eustream announces that a new point of interconnection Budnice created on the Voyany-Uzhgorod
line will become part of the the Slovak GTS.
Transit capacity of this network section will be offered to market participants on standard non-discriminatory terms.
