With the onset of the heating season, people use electric heaters, often hand-made, and stoves. And the problem of fire safety at this time is particularly acute. There are basic rules that must be strictly observed to avoid disaster so that the desired heat would warm and add comfort to your homes. Here are some tips on this issue:
– Hot parts of electric heating devices must be protected from contact with combustible materials;
– The temperature of the outer surface of electric heating devices in the hottest spot in normal operation should not exceed 85 C;
– Distance from appliances to combustible materials and structures shall be not less than 0.25 meters (unless greater distance is specified by building codes or other regulations).
To prevent fires, do not leave heaters unattended, even for a short period of time.
If an appliance catches fire, do not attempt to extinguish it with water, because water is a good conductor of electricity. Unplug it from the power supply and call firemen.
Do not:
– leave stoves unattended or under supervision of minor children;
– use stoves and fire cells that are cracked;
– keep fuel and other combustible substances and materials directly in front of the flue opening;
– dry and put clothes, firewood and other flammable objects and materials on stoves;
– use flammable substances to fuel stoves;
– fix TV, radio antennas, etc. on chimneys
