Today, the Transcarpathian regional council voted to establish the Transcarpathian People’s Council. 55 deputies out of 108 voted for the decision.
It remains "a mystery" why some members being in the meeting hall did not register. Nevertheless, the decision was passed. The discussion and voting took place in a tense atmosphere: the building on Narodna Square was surrounded by numerous police officers and under the watchful eyes of hundreds of people who gathered at the barricades and around them.
So, January 28, 2014 will go down in the history of Transcarpathia as the day of the "velvet revolution" – they achieved the establishment of the People’s Council, and the appeal from the regional council to cancel the dictatorial laws, as well withdrawal of reinforced police contingent from local Maidan without captruring the RSA building.
Of course, it is not the end of resistance, but still – important steps. See faces of the day, its emotion and atmosphere inside and outside the main building of the region on pictures below.
