Thus, the border guards of the "Salovka" department of the Chop detachment, using a portable thermal imager, noticed a group of unknown people moving towards the state border. A response group with a dog was promptly sent to find the offenders.
Within minutes, at a distance of 40 meters to the state border, border guards found a group of eight people. Three men, a woman and four adolescents in the night-time were trying to illegally cross the border on a rubber boat, which they brought along. As it later turned out, the travelers had no documents and they told border guards that they were citizens of Syria.
A day earlier, border guards of the "Uzhgorod" department also arrested three illegal immigrants, but this time they were citizens of Iraq.
Another two men, citizens of the Russian Federation, natives of Chechnya were detained by border guards of "Velyky Berezny" department. During the filtration measures, it was revealed that all the detainees were intending to cross the state border of Ukraine to the European Union, bypassing international checkpoints.
The preliminary legal qualification is envisaged by Art.202 and Part 2 of Art.204-1 of the CAO. Subsequently, the detainees were taken to the detention center of the Chop Border Detachment – the Western Regional Office of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported.
