Prosecutors know who undermines the authority of the police

December 27, Uzhgorod City and District Court decided to retain in custody a detective of the Criminal Investigation Sector of Uzhgorod District Police Department in Transcarpathian region, police lieutenant M.

 It turned out that the lieutenant had actually falsified evidence, on the bases of which a citizen E. was suspected of committing three thefts which he had not really committed.

 Thereby, the police officer "violated the principles of legality of criminal proceedings about strict compliance with the CPC of Ukraine and other legislative acts, a comprehensive, full and impartial investigation of the circumstances of the criminal offense, identifying circumstances that expose or acquit a suspect, giving them a proper legal assessment, thus undermining the prestige and authority of Uzhgorod District Police Department in Transcarpathian region, causing substantial damage to legally protected state interests in the form of undermining the authority and prestige of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and caused substantial damage to the rights and interests of the citizen E. in the form of violation of his constitutional rights to liberty and security of person" – the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office stated.

 Currently, the pre-trial investigation continues, the lieutenant is removed from duty.

 Part 3 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – such acts are punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years, with a special confiscation and forfeiture of property.
