In Uzhgorod, the police arrested three robbers

Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Department and patrol inspectors of Uzhgorod city police detained three robbers, who within a short period of time had committed two robberies on the streets.

Recently, a doctor of the central city hospital reported to Uzhgorod city police that a 25-year-old local resident had appealed to them for medical attention.

As explained by the victim,the injuries had been caused at about one o’clock by three unknown persons who had beaten him and taken away a gilded chain, keys to the apartment and money in the amount of 40 UAH. Doctors diagnosed the victim with a closed head injury and brain concussion.

A similar report of robbery was received by Uzhgorod city police station from a 27-year-old resident of Uzhgorod. The man told the police almost the same facts as in the first case: around one in the morning, near one of the city’s entertainment venues, three unidentified men inflicted bodily harm to him, and then, using physical force, took away from him 1400 UAH and a cellphone "Samsung".

Both victims remebered the appearances of the attackers, which they described to the police in detail.Wasting no time, the police went in search of the offenders. Soon, on one of the streets of the city, they noticed a suspicious company of three men. Their appearances matched the victims’ description. The police detained the suspects, they were a 38-year-old resident of the district and his friends from Uzhgorod, aged 30 and 32 years. All three of them had already done time in prison. 

During the search, the victims’ belongings were found on them. The offenders were invited to the police station to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. As the men explained, they needed the money because they wanted to play bingo…

– The Investigation Department of Uzhgorod police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art.187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery committed by previous concert by a group of persons or a person who has previously committed a robbery), – the chief of Uzhgorod city police Lt. Col. Yevhen Kalytych. – Sanction of this Article provides for punishment by imprisonment for seven to ten years with confiscation of property.     The pre-trial investigation into the matter continues.
