The killer in “Mercedes” was arrested

December 12, in the evening, a local resident reported to Uzhgorod city police department that he had witnessed a traffic accident.

The man said that a few minutes before, on Mynaiska street in Uzhgorod, the driver of a dark "Mercedes" had hit a young woman who was crossing the road on the pedestrian crossing. Rather than take the victim to hospital, the driver pressed the gas pedal and ran from the scene.

An ambulance delivered the victim to Uzhgorod City Clinical Hospital, but despite the efforts of doctors, the 20-year-old girl died in the intensive care from the received injuries…

Soon, detectives of the Criminal Investigation department and traffic inspectors of Uzhgorod city police identified the driver of the car that had fatally injured the young woman. It was a 55-year-old local resident. On his "Mercedes", they found visible signs of a traffic accident.

Currently, the driver of the "Mercedes" gives testimonies to investigators. This incident was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations and the criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of safety rules of the road, causing the death of the victim) has been opened. The offender faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
