The situation with the gas leakage at the well near the village of Ruski Komarivci in Uzhgorod district was discussed on Monday, November 18, at the meeting of the regional committee on technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies, chaired by the head of the region Oleksandr Ledyda.
According to available data, the gas leak occurred during the drilling of a well in Uzhgorod district on Sunday, November 17th, in the evening. Transcarpathian rescuers and officers of the Carpathian unit of the gas emergency service immediately arrived at the scene. Also yesterday evening, the Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration held a meeting of the regional operational headquarters to coordinate activities for elimination the accident aftermath.
Accroding to representatives of rescue services, the staff of the facility were immediately evacuated and the facility itself was de-energized. Also, they examined the scene of the accident and determined the concentration of the gas mixture in the air:
– It was established that the concentration of the gas mixture did not exceed the norm, hence there was no need for evacuation. At this moment, the emergency situation is localized. There is no threat for residents of Ruski Komarivci and Dubrivka – the Deputy Head of the office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region Hlib Burkovsky said.
The head of the operational headquarters instructed the local authorities, the district leaders to meet with the village community to explain them the cause of the situation and to inform about the current state of affairs:
– Citizens should know that a well is being developed in the district, that, according to experts, there is no danger to people’s lives and health.
Also Ledyda ordered to create a special commission to establish the cause of the accident – the press-center of the RSA reported.
