Transcarpathia is preparing to Shevchenko’s anniversary

The organizing committee for the preparation and celebration in the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko was established in the Transcarpathian region. The Governor appointed his "humanitarian" deputy Ivan Kachur as the Chairman of the committee, the Head of the Cultural Department Yuriy Hleba – as the Deputy Chairman.

The plan of celebrations in the region has already been approved. Officials will be obliged to lay flowers at the monument to Shevchenko in Uzhgorod and in settlements of the region twice a year. The Regional Drama Theater shall prepare a concert with the works of Taras Shevchenko. Transcarpathian Honored Academic Folk Choir shall prepare and present in the cities and districts of the region a program on the works of Shevchenko. In the exhibition halls of museums, they plan to organize exhibitions of works on Shevchenko’s theme "My land is beautiful, gorgeous, rich…".  In secondary schools students will be shown themed films. Regional television and Department of Information and Communication of the regional state administration are entrusted to systematically cover in the media events on the preparation and celebration of the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko.
