During the three years of the health reform, in Mizhhirya district, there has been the reduction of number of health workers, hospital beds in institutions and closing of hospitals. While in 2010, there were around 713 doctors in the district, this year their number was reduced to 622. The number of beds during this period has decreased from 250 to 206. The regional authorities also reduced expenditures for capital construction – from 485,000 in 2010 to 222,000 in 2013. Another "achievement" of the government is the reorganization of the district hospital in the village of Kolochava. Here, under the order of the head of Mizhhirya DSA Vasyl Shchur, the officials cut 10 inpatient beds. According to the Department of Health of Mizhhirya DSA, next year they plan to continue to "reorganize" and "optimize" health care, resulting in cutting another 14 beds in hospitals.
Total expenditures on health care in Mizhhirya district in 2013 are 29,362,400 UAH. Of those, only 1.5 million are allocated for medicine, representing 5.4% of total funding.
